The business was founded in 1882 by Walter Glendinning and has been in the family ever since.

107-109 was originally 2 shops with a house at 107½. Glendinning's were originally in No. 109 and this photo from their website shows Walter standing outside the shop in about 1900. In the early/mid sixties they expanded into the shop next door (107).
These were the businesses in Number 107 before merging with Number 109

Adverts for Glendinning's always reflect the times and fashions.
Memories: "Walter (grandson of the original Walter) would never sell you a shirt without a matching tie!"
