This large unit contains Numbers 54 to 60 - 3 shops and a house.

1940s view of the Market Place


In 1964-65 Valuation Rolls all these premises were either classed as empty or ruinous with the house uninhabitable. Later only Number 54 is mentioned so we have assumed that the reconstruction put all three together to make a large shop and café (Templeton's).

This was the trading name for Allied Suppliers (later called Argyll Stores)

1984 Prestos - In 1982 Presto and its 136 stores transferred to Argyll Foods and by 1985 a major reorganisation had Hintons, Liptons Galbraith and Templeton Stores re-branded as Presto stores or they closed.
