The block including 43 and 45 is a Category B Listed Building. Category B means it is of regional importance.
The listing says ' Earlier 19th century, 2 storeys... 3 bay shop at right (No.43), main doorway and window at left (No.45)... pair tripartite windows at first floor, small-paned sashes..'
You can see these features in this photos from 2021.
In the 1890's there are records of John Currie, grocer, being the occupier of number 45.
J & M Nicholson moved into next door at number 43 around 1936 with their bakery shop and by 1947 had taken over number 45 and under the name Nicholson's, a bakers shop was here until 2010. The shops were separated into 2 units again in 2014

Memories: He specialised in hams and bacons and was a familiar figure in his black bombazine apron, often standing on the top step of three that led into the shop.
