Number 23 is the unit to the right of what was known as Pool's Court. To the right is the modern extension to Port Street which was built to allow easier access to Annan Harbour for large vehicles. Numbers 11-21 High Street were demolished and incorporated with Tweedie's Court to make the wider road junction.
Memories: Above Haugh's newsagent was the Annan & District club where local gentlemen met to smoke, play billiards and cards and agree upon what was best for the town!
Memories: This was the location of the Conservative Association which was lavishly equipped with a billiard room, smoke room and even had a picture by WE Lockhart among the pictures in the reading room. It had a balcony with a wrought iron railing running the full length of the building. Entry was by the doorway to the left of the shop.
Memories: This later became part of Baird's showrooms where Mr Black & Mr Blaylock gave a fantastic service - anything from a needle to a tractor.
