Memory: My great grandmother was born in Langholm in 1851. Her name was Agnes Carruthers and in 1870 she married Thomas Frood (compositor). He died  in 1887 and in 1892 she then married Frank Bell (postmaster at Queensberry Hotel). After his death she continued to run the business until her death in 1928.

1904 John Frood, printer - John served apprenticeship with Annandale Observer but following a wanderlust urge he emigrated to Canada in 1896. He joined the military and travelled the continent but by 1899 he had returned to Annan (and the 'Observer') before setting up this business.
Charles & Agnes Frood (Charles & John were brothers) also had premises at Number 84 & 84a
By 1950s both concerns moved to Number 89-91.
