The building (Numbers 74-78 and the Corner House Hotel), is a Category B Listed Building. Category B means it is of regional importance.
The listing says 'it is a 3 storey renaissance-detailed corner block with shops and hotel. Elaborately detailed S elevation to High Street with sculptured ornament at top floor and a recessed circular turret. The polished ashlar (dressed stone) elevation has 2 bays with tripartites, balconies to upper floor on columns supported on stone corbels and elaborate pedimented heads raised above eaves level. Further narrow left bay with oculus (circular window) at second floor. Turret at the angle with Lady Street has columned mullions and slated dome'.

1920 Greenlees & Sons Ltd., boot merchant.
James Greenlees originally set up in business as a druggist but became a boot manufacturer soon after. In the 1890's, with his 11 sons, Greenlees & Sons of Paisley began to make an impact on Scottish High Streets, advertising under the "Easifit" trademark.

The inverted commas were an integral part of the name displayed on shops. They continued to expand into England and one of James' sons set up a new company Greenlees & Sons ("Easifit" Footwear Ltd) who built a new factory in Leicester to supply the English shops but still keeping the Scottish factory.

Their 260 shops were bought by Great Universal Stores (GUS) in 1957 and morphed into Lennards shoes before being sold off to an Australian company that went bust in the 1980's.
