The building (Numbers 74-78 and the Corner House Hotel), is a Category B Listed Building. Category B means it is of regional importance.
The listing says 'it is a 3 storey renaissance-detailed corner block with shops and hotel. Elaborately detailed S elevation to High Street with sculptured ornament at top floor and a recessed circular turret. The polished ashlar (dressed stone) elevation has 2 bays with tripartites, balconies to upper floor on columns supported on stone corbels and elaborate pedimented heads raised above eaves level. Further narrow left bay with oculus (circular window) at second floor. Turret at the angle with Lady Street has columned mullions and slated dome'.
This photo from the 1930's shows most of those features.

Plans for the present building are dated May 1899. The Wilson Brothers had this site redeveloped with a number of shops on the High Street and along Lady Street with a Temperance Hotel above.
